NGPOD: inspired by personal experience
Many innovations start with an individual recognising an unmet need; NGPOD is a case in point.
When NGPOD inventor Sean Thomas's baby daughter was in a hospital, he observed how the nursing team checked that her nasogastric tube (NGT) was in the correct position and recognised that this was both stressful for them and variations in the process used. Drawing on his engineering experience, he looked into the problem of confirming the NGT position and created NGPOD.
