Celebrating Clinical Excellence: NHS Dietitians Win Award for NGPOD Trial in Acute Stroke Care

We are proud to share some fantastic news from our partners at the Royal Free London NHS TrustDietitians from North Middlesex Hospital have won an award for “Outstanding Care” at the North Mid Improvement Expo for their pioneering work using NGPOD in the Acute Stroke Unit.

Their project — “Striving for excellent nutritional care: evaluating a novel, bedside method of confirming nasogastric tube placements and reducing feeding delays” — highlights how clinical innovation can directly improve patient outcomes.

Recognising Innovation in Practice

Nasogastric tube feeding is a vital component of stroke care, yet delays can result in complications and increase length of stay, and misplacements can pose serious risks to patient safety. By trialling the NGPOD system as a bedside method for confirming NG tube placement, the North Middlesex dietetic team demonstrated a practical way to streamline nutritional care, reduce delays, and enhance patient safety.

This recognition underscores the dedication and ingenuity of NHS dietitians in improving standards of care and adopting evidence-based innovations.

A Partnership to Drive Better Patient Outcomes

We at NGPOD are delighted that our technology played a role in this award-winning initiative. The success of this trial reinforces the importance of close collaboration between clinicians and innovators to deliver tangible benefits for patients and frontline staff.

We congratulate the North Middlesex dietetic team on this well-deserved award and look forward to supporting further research and roll-out of NGPOD across NHS services to help improve nutrition and safety for patients.
